Dr. Michael (Yanhui) Ma, M.D.

Dr. Ma is a seasoned scientist, physician, and entrepreneur.  After graduating from medical school in China, Dr. Ma continued his medical studies and research at University of California, San Francisco Medical School, under the mentorship of world renowned professors in Endocrinology, Dr. Gerald Grodsky and Dr. John Karam. Following his medical training, Dr. Ma joined Genentech as a research scientist in the department of Endocrinology at Genentech.  Subsequently, Dr. Ma founded two successful healthcare companies.

Dr. Ma co-founded SinoCare Inc., a privately-held healthcare investment and hospital management company based in China, consisting of four general hospitals, and has served as its Chief Executive Officer and Chairman of the Board. Under Dr. Ma’s leadership, SinoCare Group has become a leading privately-operated hospital chain in China. Dr. Ma’s team pioneered the SinoCare “private to public partnership” and “good-to-great” business model aimed at improving state-owned hospitals through a move from state to semi-private ownership and operational restructuring, which led to reducing the inefficiencies of public hospitals.

Additionally, Dr. Ma serves as Chairman of the board of SinoMed Group Inc., a privately-held medical technology company he founded more than 10 years ago. SinoMed focuses on cutting edge R&D for diabetes and endocrine related disorder management products, with insulin pump, blood glucose monitoring device, and pituitary treatment pump as its leading products.

Dr. Ma serves on the board of directors of several public and private companies. He organized and co-founded the China International Drug Delivery Society and served as Vice-Chairman of the Society for 4 years.
